Fonda Lola on Queen West opened last December after gaining a following through a series of pop-up events, including an appearance at Tequila Tromba’s “world’s largest tequila tasting” last September. They sold over 1400 tacos that night, and owners Ernesto Rodriguez, Andrés Márquez, and chef Howard Dubrowsky went on to open Fonda Lola a couple months later. They are known for their “healthy boozing” and locally-sourced authentic Mexican food.
A whole year has gone by since then, and this Friday, November 28th from 12pm until 12am, Fonda Lola is holding a one year anniversary celebration that can’t be missed. The full day event includes free handheld ceasar salads, a hot chili pepper eating contest, and of course, a free tequila tasting.
The full schedule for the day is as follows:
12pm: free handheld ceasar salads
2pm: hot chili pepper eating contests (individuals & groups)
4pm: free tequila tasting
5pm: free handheld ceasar salad with the purchase of a signature margarita
6:30pm & 8:30pm: #mexicanfiesta (the entire menu) for $35 per person
There will also be pinatas and tequila every hour on the hour, so stop by whenever you can for a delicious Mexican treat!
Fonda Lola is located at 942 Queen St. West. Follow @FondaLola for updates, and check out the website fondalola.ca for more information.
