Yoga Soul Mates

By Sara Celik @drsaradetox · On November 22, 2012

Yoga is not just about mastering downward dog and wearing tight Lululemon gear.  It goes far beyond anything that I’ve ever imagined.  Besides improving flexibility, strength, and body composition, yoga is like medicine for the soul.  During your practice, you are instructed to ‘be present’.  You are encouraged to connect with your body.  You become alive, awake, and most importantly, aware.  As you integrate yoga and meditation into your daily life, you stop searching outward for satisfaction and realize that all along, you’ve been holding the key to your own happiness.  When you are in this state of being, you radiate beautiful energy to the outside world, which is very attractive to the opposite sex.  Essentially, you become a magnet for your soul mate – and they become a magnet for you.

When you are satisfied, fulfilled, and in love with yourself, you will attract a great partner into your life.  If you are feeling low, unhappy, and disappointed, you likely aren’t going to attract an amazing man or woman into your life.  Consider this a blessing because do you really want to attract somebody into your life when you’re in this state, knowing that like attracts like?  I didn’t think so.

If you`re looking to build a life with your twin flame, first ask yourself if you feel whole?  Are you only happy when you’re in a relationship?  Do you expect your partner to complete you?   Do you expect your partner to make you feel loved?  I encourage you to release any expectations in relationships.  In fact, the more you expect from another person, the more likely you will drive them away.  Do you know how hard it is to ‘complete’ somebody?  Talk about a daunting task.  When you are happy with the person that you are, you let go of any need for someone in your life to ‘complete you’.  You start searching for a life partner to connect with, to grow with, and to share with.  You move from an inferior state of ‘needing’ to a powerful state of ‘sharing’.

If you’re wondering how in the world yoga is going to help you find true love or improve your current relationship, here are some reasons.

IT WILL GET YOU CONNECTED:  In our modern, fast paced world, we are ultra-connected and at the same time, ultra-disconnected.  Sure we can easily stay in touch via text or social media, but when was the last time you engaged in a deep, meaningful conversation through modern communication techniques?  In yoga, you learn to slow down, breathe, and connect with yourself.  By connecting with yourself, you connect better with others.

THE MORE LOVE YOU GIVE YOURSELF, THE MORE YOU HAVE TO GIVE OTHERS:  Yoga is a very non-judgmental, loving, and nurturing practice.  Not only does it energize you, it gives you the opportunity to nurture your soul.  You feed your soul love, happy thoughts, and ‘Qi’ (also known as energy).  Think about it, if you’re exhausted, feeling drained, or depleted, how can you possibly give another person any love?

IT WILL HELP YOU LET GO OF TOXINS:  Yoga is like guided meditation.  It helps you let go of the past and focus on the present.  It helps you feel lighter, calmer, and clearer.  Many people are closed off to love or unhappy in their relationship because they have not let go of previous experiences.  They carry past hurt, pain, and disappointment around with them every day.  When you release ‘toxic stuff’ from your past, this is when you become open to receiving love.

Your twin flame may be on the yoga mat next to you.  They may be practicing letting go.  They may be working on loving themselves.  They may be seeking connection in their life.  They may even be on a similar journey as you.

One thing I know for sure is that their heart desires yours just as much as your heart desires theirs.  As Rumi says, “what you seek is seeking you.”
