Planning a little escape and want to heighten the romance? Throw a few of these essentials in your carry-on to create the ambiance and ignite the passion.
First, place a call to the destination ahead of time to see what the amenity options are. Let them know you are celebrating a special occasion as they often leave gifts or snacks to greet you – maybe even an upgrade.
If alcohol is not readily available, pack travel size liquor shots to make welcome drinks.
Find out your mate’s favourite flavor and pack a room spray (ie sexy vanilla). As soon as you get in your room, wait for your mate to go wash their hands and give a little spritz into the drapes and carpet to stimulate the senses. (Keep it in the bathroom as a freshener).
Most hotels have speakers to connect to but not all of them. Upload a sultry lounge collection (am and pm) to your phone or use free WiFi to stream it. Pack a light travel blue tooth speaker so you can take the music with you to the beach etc.
Roll up 10 tea lights in a Ziploc bag and throw in some matches. While your mate is brushing their teeth before bed, place them around your room and light them. Add music and voila! Your private oasis awaits. Dispose of them before leaving so they don’t charge you for a potential fire hazard.
Bring a “surprise outfit”.
Massage oil – natural grape seed unscented is best.
Extra bubbly lather for a sexy bath or shower.
Adult content (visual or otherwise). Include lubricant as the climate change and alcohol can be dehydrating.
Wet wipes (leave those out where you can easily access them).
Protection (don’t just rely on your mate).
Vitamin C and Electrolyte packets for a quick recharge day or night, especially if you have been up late or in the sun.
If you want to go all out, visit your local florist 1 day before departure and pick up a bag or box of rose petals. They usually sell them for $10 for a large quantity. Choose to sprinkle them in the bath, on the bed, make a welcome walkway to lead your mate towards adventure or on the in-room dining table.
And above else, pack an open mind, a positive attitude and an easy sense of humour.
