Whistler, B.C. is a skiers dream. Located just two hours outside of Vancouver, Whistler is in the heart of the spectacular Coast Mountains of British Columbia. Two majestic mountains offer world-class skiing and snowboarding, a vibrant village offers incredible shopping, and there are plenty of hiking trails, and spas to make it the perfect getaway. Whistler can provide an exciting spot for a group of friends or a romantic getaway with that special someone. No matter what you are in the mood for, here are the two-ways to see Whistler.
Whistler with Friends
Grab the gang and head up to Whistler for some fresh pow, incredible dining, and plenty of activities. Whether you are with close friends or a large group, Whistler offers the perfect escape for a weekend with friends.
Where to stay:
Plenty of the hotels in the village offer suites that can sleep around six people. When we were in town we stayed at the Delta Whistler. The spacious rooms were perfect to fit a group of friends, and the location was unbeatable. Located right at the base of Whistler Blackcomb, the hotel offers ski in and out access.

What to do:
Aside from hitting the slopes, there is plenty to do with a group of friends in Whistler. If skiing isn’t your cup of tea, start the day off with a different kind of adventure, a TreeTrek tour through the beautiful forest. The tours offer tightropes to conquer and zippiness that will not only get your adrenaline going but also offer some spectacular views.
After the adrenaline starts pumping, treat yourself to some of the best Apres spots in the world. Get off the mountain and straight onto the heated patio at Longhorns, right at the base of Whistler. Grab a beer or one of their famous Caesars and nachos to replenish yourself.
Don’t want the fun to end just yet? Why not unleash your inner lumberjack at Forged Axe. Take some friendly bets to see who can get closest to the bullseye.
Once a winner is crowned head over to The Mexican Corner for some delicious margaritas, authentic Mexican cuisine, and even live music. Fill your bellies on the Mango Margarita and tacos.
Finish off the night by strapping on your dancing shoes and showing off your moves at Garfinkels. When I was in town, I asked the locals the best place to be, and this place proved to be a local favourite. Garfkinkels is actually the first club that Joey Gibbson bought and it became his baby. You will find a crowd there any night of the week as the DJ spins fun tracks to keep you on the dance floor.
Whistler with your Partner
There is something about being in the mountains that creates a romantic atmosphere. From the breathtaking views, the cozy bars, and the relaxing spas, Whistler is the perfect getaway to just relax with your loved one.
Where to stay:
Looking for a hotel that is a little more secluded and romantic? Look no further than Nita Lake Lodge. A five-minute shuttle from Whistler Village this is the most romantic of the ski resort properties. The hotel offers views of a frosted glacier lake with the Valley Trail running right into the lobby. Warm up by the fieldstone fireplace or cuddle around the s’mores station on the all-season patio.

What to do:
Start off the day really relaxing and unwinding with your loved one at the Scandinave Spa. The spa is hidden in what appears to be an enchanted forest by Lost Lake. The spa offers traditional Turkish style baths where you rotate from hot to cold to rejuvenate your muscles. There is a no talking rule, so you really get to spend time taking in the views surrounding you, and of course the view of the hottie in front of you.
Once you have relaxed every inch of your body, make your way over to Lost Lake via snowshoes. You can rent a pair at Cross Country Connection in the PassiveHaus and then start your trek through the stunning snow covered tree tops. Pack a snack and head on out to the middle of the lake where you will feel like you are the only two people in the whole world.
Head back into Whistler Village for an afternoon hand-held stroll checking out some of the beautiful art galleries where you can find local and international talent. If you don’t want to walk through the crowds, the Westin, Fairmont, and Hilton hotels have some fantastic places to check out the art.
Worked up an appetite? Why not join Canadian Wilderness Adventures and snowmobile up to 6,000 feet to enjoy a fondue dinner by candlelight at the rustic Crystal Hut. Does it get any more romantic? Finish off the night by cuddling with your loved one by the fire at the Crystal Lodge. Indulged in some of their delicious drink specials while listening to some truly incredible live music. This is the perfect spot to end the night
Whether with your loved one or your beloved friends, Whistler is the perfect spot for a getaway.
