Looking for a romantic getaway with your loved one but don’t want to break the bank? How about an unforgettable road trip through Arizona? I had the chance to drive along the famous route 66 with my partner, knocking off bucket list stops, checking out world wonders, and hiking to some of the most picturesque views. This romantic getaway will not only bring you and your partner closer together, but it will also be within budget.
Day 1:
Fly into Phoenix, Arizona and start the drive towards the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is a true natural wonder that was carved by the Colorado River billions of years ago. The rich minerals of the rock create some of the most incredible colours. Deep red and rich purple glow in the sunlight. As you walk up to the edge of the Canyon, you will feel like your feet are hanging over the edge of the world. The Canyon is also home to stunning waterfalls like Havasu Falls for you and your partner to discover together. It is hard to put the marvels of this place into words, better to see it to believe it.

Spend the night in Williams. This quirky little town outside of Flagstaff is a must see. Eat and drink at the local brewery, Historic Brewing Barrel and Bottle House and then grab a front row seat for the “gun” fight that happens in the middle of Main Street every night. You will feel like you stepped back in time to the wild wild West.
Day 2:
Why not see the views from a different angle and take to the skies. Get another perspective of the Grand Canyon, and other wonders like the beautiful Horseshoe Bend during a helicopter ride. This is a must because the views are breathtaking, and plus being so high you are going to want to hold on tight to your partner.
After the ride in the sky, continue on the road making your way to Page, Arizona to see yet another wonder, Horseshoe Bend. As the day nears the end, start your hike to Horseshoe Bend for a truly magical sunset. Horseshoe Bend overlooks the Colorado River. The rock is rich in minerals, which give it such unique colours. With the sun setting over the rock and the water those colours truly sparkle.
Finish the night at Canyon Colours Bed and Breakfast in Page. This charming B&B offers rooms with a fireplace, wood burning stove, and even a whirlpool tub. The perfect spot to unwind with your loved one before your final day of adventure.
Day 3:
The third and final day start off with getting a bit of a romantic workout in on the water. Rent some paddleboards and explore Lake Powell. Lake Powell is the second largest man-made lake in the world but probably the most scenic. The lake is surrounded by intense red rock cliffs and its silky smooth water a deep blue. It is truly beautiful.
The last stop on your trip might be the most magical, a walk through Upper Antelope Canyon. There is no wonder the Navajo people hold this place sacred. Making your way through the red canyon walls that were carved by nature over millennia, you will be amazed by the shapes and colours. The most striking part though has to be when the sunbeams sneak through holes in the ceiling to create incredible light and illuminate the sand.
