The best time to exercise is the time that works for you on a regular basis. However, if you have the choice between morning or afternoon or evening I highly recommend the morning.
The morning is recommended for the simple fact that it’s rare you will have conflicts with your schedule. For example, it’s possible in the afternoon you may get a phone call from someone that carries on for too long and you miss your opportunity to hit the gym. In the evening it’s possible someone from the office may ask to go out for drinks or you may have to stay late hence you miss your training session. However, when was the last time you received a phone call at 5:00 am or someone said they wanted to go for a drink (coffee of course!) at 6:00 am? Rarely do we have social events that occur at 5:30 am or 6:00 am and when we do they are usually very serious in which case you can miss exercising in the morning this one day. There are rarely conflicts with morning exercise sessions so you will see more results since you will not be missing as many sessions due to unforeseen conflicts. When you miss less sessions you’re destined for a greater level of success with your physique. It’s also important to note that when you exercise in the morning you ignite your metabolism for the rest of the day which is great for dealing with the other demands that you need to take care of at the office. If you currently exercise in the evening switching to morning will be difficult for the first couple weeks however it will be well worth it.
I’ll see you in the gym at 6:00 am and don’t worry I’ll bring the Starbucks.
