We live in a vibrant, international cosmopolitan city! Surely there MUST be alluring, mind-blowing events to attend and places to be. I’m searching for a destination fit for a society maven. (Sigh)
Cultural curator, Kyle Kofsky invited me to #CNDNFSHN, the exclusive launch of producttoronto.com and Christopher Bates’ new collection. Kofsky’s event took place on Oct. 17th at 183-400 Bathurst Street in The Academy Showroom. When Kofsky invites you to an event, you can expect to be dazzled!
Mannequins cloaked in Bates’ designs stood next to racks of his new line as copies of PRODUCT magazine were presented on marble tables in the 4, 000 square foot space. I was celebrating with a well-dressed crowd, which made sense since it consisted mostly of guests from the fashion industry as well as media.
The food alone was enough to make my night. Kitchen Cargo and me.N.U served miniature chicken and steak pot pies which were a huge hit. Sugar and Scotch had a macaroon table with flavours varying from passion fruit to key lime. One of my favourite concoctions was the liquid nitrogen ice cream station by Ice Cream Volcano. Clouds of liquid nitrogen billowed out of the mixing bowl as the ice cream was made right before my eyes. Of course the beverages were delicious as well. There was something for everyone. TeAlchemy and 1800 Tequila collaborated to make a unique red cocktail with leaves of floating tarragon. There was a PRAVDA Vodka Bar with pickles and pumpernickel. Guest’s glasses were topped with Fifth Leg Wines. I couldn’t have asked for more. On top of all the scrumptious treats and drinks, the mood was set with live performances from Brett Millius, Oliver Pigott, and Ada Dahli.
As the launch of the PRODUCT website, #CNDNFSHN was a pretty cool initiative since social media has become such an integral part of spreading awareness about any and everything. Kofsky’s event had phones buzzing as guests shared their experience with the rest of the world, a very clever move as it took place just before Fashion Week.
At the end of a great night, I left the launch with an issue of PRODUCT magazine, a bottle of AQUAHydrate, and a VIP ticket to Toronto’s Gourmet Food & Wine Expo on November 14th. Kofsky sure knows how to treat his guests well.
