We women have come so far in terms of rights and equality, so why not own it and each of us become the strong, independent woman that we all are! With International Women’s Day here, let’s embrace our womanhood. Whether you’re looking to break out of your shell or looking for ways to boost your independence and confidence, follow these few tips to help make you the successful, sassy, powerhouse you are!
1. Be you, and only you
Uniqueness is the sexiest and most alluring characteristic any woman could have. In today’s society, jealousy often overpowers a woman’s mind and controls her thoughts making her wish she had someone else’s body, money, boyfriend, and virtually anything else possible. Learn to recognize when you’re getting jealous and remind yourself that everyone is going to have things they don’t like about themselves, but the best thing to do is just embrace it and look at it in a positive light.
2. Base your happiness on yourself, not others
Being in love is said to be the greatest thing to ever exist, but what happens if that ends? The only thing you will have indefinitely at the end of the day is yourself; so make sure you love yourself before you love anyone else. This is important to ensure stability and happiness in case you do end up encountering a breakup or divorce.
3. Manage your own cash
This is a biggie if you want to be truly independent. Handling your own finances allows you to keep track of spending and makes you really appreciate your money. Hold off spending frivolously. I mean, that baby pink bandage dress is killer but do you absolutely, positively, undoubtedly need it? Probably not.
4. Take care
A large part of women’s confidence is looking good and feeling good. This isn’t to say you need to devote your life to dieting and exercising and become the next Jillian Michaels (although that would be nice) but steering clear of the burger and fries combo at lunch and grabbing a fresh salad never hurts. Base your health and fitness around you and what you want, not what others say you should be doing.
5. Help a fellow “Sista” out
Nothing feels better than helping another female achieve her goals and making her feel more confident. Take these tips, embrace them, pass them along to a friend and do whatever she needs to get to the level of independence you are at. Girlfriends are the family you get to choose, so treat them like it and be fabulous together!
Welcome to the sisterhood of independence and confidence!
